Unlike its touristic rival, Barcelona, Madrid offers much more relaxing and refreshing time. I d like to share some episodes from 4 days trip.
First, as usual, comes from Barajas airport. All Romanians pass with their magic EU IDs and customs officials stop me because they find my passport and visa suspicious. After half an hour waiting in front of the office, the guy calls me and our lovely conversation starts with our espagnolized English.
O: Why do you have only one visa in your passport ?
O :Because all others are in my old one and I didn’t bring it with me. But this schengen visa must be ok.
O: Hm, but it`s a French visa
O: Yes, but it`s schengen in the end.
O: Why did you come to Spain then ?
O: To watch the game.
O: Jajajaj, why didn’t you tell it before ? Great ! Where is your ticket ?
O: My friend has it and she is waiting for me outside.
O: Who do you support then ?
O: Of course, Real Madrid.
O: Oh, great, great ! You can pass of course.
I always admired how this EU travelling policies are made and how officially implemented in all countries !
Second episode is about my `first observations` about Madrid : Offices close at 2 and if not between 2-4 it`s enjoying siesta time.
From early morning till next day early morning, you can see people chatting & drinking in open cafes. They are everywhere, even in little tiny back streets.
English hasn’t conquered Spain yet. Subway signs are totally clear even for a dumb tourist.
They have the most tasteful cuisine among all the European countries I have seen so far – especially all the combinations with seafood.

Bullfighting is interesting to watch, but definitely savageness and massacre. A glass of sangria with ice can take
all your exhaustion. Third episode is from Bueri Retiro Park.

I was walking around in the park, spending time until afternoon. I was just about to leave the park, when a Japanese lady approached me to ask where she can go out of the park. Then she realized the Turkish written T-shirt on me and from that moment on, all our conversation was in Turkish. Don’t know you, but it is not so common to meet a Japanese in Spain speaking Turkish more properly than most of the Turks.
