Maybe having the second city after bucharest with a population of 300K is not the main reason why romania can't create another star city but it definitely affects. I, personally, am sure that I wouldn't be living in any other city here and targoviste is another example including tens of others I have been. Well, on Saturday, just on a little rainy day, for the whole day, I have seen max 10 people around. City is like, left after a world war. Little old times shops, 90% are closed, no commerce, no human attraction, no sound. I have seen a couple of eu-bla bla institutions but am suspicious if any aspects of eu, west, open borders have arrived this city. Loading every kind of commercial, political, cultural, etc activity to Bucharest will not help Romania equalize with the fellow countries. Even cities around Bucharest, like Targoviste, are left to their destinies. From a whole day trip, this is my main and only impression. City centers, streets, open places are direct proofs of city life, I believe and offering a 3 months mountain skiing, a walk in the virgin nature and an anyway-people-come seaside is not enough for Romania. This city was once the capital of Wallachia authority, earlier a defending point against Ottomans and where Caueascu was executed. And 10 people on the streets on Saturday. Hard to understand. Hope the priest hears my wish which I left in the wish box inside the green church
Ah, by the way, the food was amazing, thanks to this old town restaurant :)
