Today is the anniversary of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk's death, founder of turkish republic. He's accepted as the leader of Turkish revolution, independence and renaissance. There have been always discussions if he was a leader of a revolution or a dictator which ruled the country. Actually these discussions have been always raised by europeans who have welcomed democracy, freedom and republican lifestyle much later than Turkish in last century. Almost all European countries have been ruled either by a fascist dictator or vice versa, but same, communist dictator. So it's normal for them not to understand what Ataturk means and actually is for Turkish people and the world. Their arguments rely on the issues which have no relation about how Turkey was managed. In this post, I don't want to raise these topics as they are used as political purposes nowadays and have no scientific, realistic proofs behind. I just want any of you to read how a guy trusted his nation, tried and succeeded a revolution and implemented a totally new system again for the nation. In fact, no need to talk much about, his famous words, peace at home peace in the world, summarize everything.
Turkey unfortunately could not continue the revolutions as it started and got so late in implementation of human rights, freedom of ideas, women's status in social life and so on.
I am really happy to know Ataturk, his ideas, his ambition and beliefs. And happy to be the next generation to continue on his way..
I just recommend for the ones who are judging him wrongly to read and search about these years, world's fcked up situation and how he was different than European dictators...
